This was the fourth meeting of the Contextualism Network in 2022-2023, following meetings dedicated to the themes of action, epistemology and rationality. The general objective of the Meetings is to specify the core agenda of the RG MLAG in philosophy of mind, philosophy of language and philosophy of action with a view to submitting national projects and participating in international projects. The Network Contextualism pursues MLAG’s former work within the CNRS Network La philosophie du langage ordinaire, around the works of Austin and Wittgenstein, as well as the discussion of positions on logic, thought and language inspired by the works of Frege and Wittgenstein which led to the publication of The Logical Alien (Miguens ed 2020, Harvard University Press).
How should one characterize ‘idealism’? Which idealism was Frege attacking in “Der Gedanke”? Are there other varieties of idealism that do not fall under such attack? Should Kant’s and Hegel’s idealism be considered in the same boat as Berlekeley’s?
